Seniors Support & Empowerment
GIM Legal & Learning Centre is pleased to announce that we have received funding under the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program for our Senior’s Support and Empowerment which will run from March 2025 until February 2026
This federal grants and contributions program supports projects that are led or inspired by seniors who are making a difference in the lives of others in their communities.
The funds will be used for workshops of:
- Financial Empowerment of Seniors
- Financial Fraud and Scam Awareness
- Mental Health Workshops
- Digital Literacy Training for Seniors
The project will take the form of in-person and online training.
The training will comprise of hands-on and practical participation.
Some of the benefits of the program include:
Protection of Their Financial Security
Helping seniors safeguard their finances from fraud, scams, and financial abuse.
Improving Their Financial Literacy
Educating seniors on money management, budgeting, and understanding financial tools.
Empowering Them to Make Informed Decisions
Giving seniors the knowledge and confidence to take control of their financial choices.
Other benefits
Financial fraud awareness training can help seniors feel more confident and secure in their financial management, leading to increased well-being and quality of life.
The project can project emotional outlet for those dealing with stress or loneliness. It can also be used to express emotions in a positive way, helping seniors improve mental health and well-being and much more.
