Seniors Connect 2026
About Seniors Connect
The 2026 Seniors Connect is Sponsored by the Government of Canada New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Seniors Connect is a community-based program designed to support the emotional, mental, and social well-being of older adults. Through engaging activities like drumming, singing, and dancing, we create a safe and welcoming space where seniors can express themselves, stay active, and connect with others. Our sessions help reduce feelings of stress, isolation, and loneliness by encouraging creativity, communication, and joy.
The program also promotes volunteerism and intergenerational connection, allowing seniors to share their skills and build meaningful relationships with people of all ages. By fostering a sense of purpose and belonging, Seniors Connect helps participants enjoy improved mental health, stronger social bonds, and a richer quality of life.
Seniors Connect Activities
Drumming
Experience the joy and rhythm of drumming in our guided sessions using both traditional and softer djembe drums. Led by a skilled facilitator, these sessions support mental well-being through the calming, therapeutic power of rhythm.
Drumming is more than just music, it’s a shared experience that builds connection and community. As seniors come together to drum, they enjoy increased social interaction, reduced feelings of isolation, and a stronger sense of belonging. It’s a meaningful way to connect with peers and even with younger generations through the universal language of rhythm.
Singing
Group singing is a powerful and joyful way to support the aging brain and lift the spirits. Whether singing with fellow seniors or across generations, these sessions help reduce loneliness by bringing people together through shared songs and memories.
Singing encourages participation, especially for those who may be shy or withdrawn, helping to build confidence and social bonds. It also supports clear communication, improves mood, and can even enhance mobility and coordination—reducing the risk of falls and feelings of isolation. More than just music, singing helps improve quality of life by promoting inclusion, emotional connection, and everyday well-being.
Dancing
Dancing is a fun, low-impact way for seniors to stay active, improve balance, and regain agility. It supports coordination, reduces stress, and boosts overall well-being. These sessions create a welcoming space for social connection, helping seniors engage with peers and even younger generations. Dancing also encourages creativity and joy while promoting physical health. Each session includes movement, music, and healthy living tips, with a final event where participants can showcase what they’ve learned. It’s a great way to stay moving, stay connected, and feel part of a vibrant, supportive community.
